Earth Day 2026 · April 22
Every year on Earth Day we look at the planet differently. This year, we looked for letters.
We went through our satellite image archive, images captured from 600 km above the Earth, searching for shapes that form the 26 letters of the alphabet. A volcanic lake in Azerbaijan that curves into an A. A diamond mine in Canada carved into a perfect B. An airport terminal in Istanbul stretched into an E. A river delta in Vietnam that bends like a W.
They were there all along. Hidden in craters, coastlines, runways, rivers, and crop fields. Earth has been writing the whole time. We just needed to look from far enough away..

Our Power, Our Planet
The theme of Earth Day 2026 is Our Power, Our Planet.
From 600 km up, the planet looks whole. No borders, no divisions, just coastlines, rivers, ice, and the slow geometry of everything humans have built. This alphabet proves that the Earth’s surface tells a story in every direction, at every scale.
We built this alphabet from our archive because we believe the best way to understand the planet is to look at it clearly. That’s what Earth Observation is for. Happy Earth Day.
