The Third-Party Missions (TPM) programme (EarthNet) consists of a series of satellites specifically focused on Earth Observation which are owned by commercial and public organisations worldwide, of which GEOSAT is a part.
ESA promotes the availability of GEOSAT datasets so that they are offered through a single programme for ease of access.
Researchers and developers for non-commercial applications can access to:
GEOSAT-1 Full archive and tasking data: 20m resolution imagery with a very wide 600 km swath.
GEOSAT-2 Full archive and tasking data: up to 40cm Very High Resolution (VHR) imagery.
Please find below the instructions to apply for GEOSAT data and submit your R&D project:

What GEOSAT offers to the scientific community?
GEOSAT, with its satellites, monitors the whole Earth’s surface, 24/7 and provides data within 20 minutes (from acquisition) with its Emergency & Disaster delivery system. GEOSAT can support researchers with remote sensing applications, such as forestry, maritime and customized projects. Other support initiatives include providing imagery of natural disasters, wildfires, flooding, tsunamis, oil spills, deforestation & mining.
How GEOSAT has been contributing to scientific research:
- Tropforest, DAP_MG2_25: Full coverage of tropical areas in the world, specifically in Africa, Asia & America.
- GEOSAT-2 was the first mission to acquire images of the Fukushima tsunami in 2011.
- Greece’s Wildfires: GEOSAT-2 was the first mission to provide satellite imagery to the Hellenic Military Geographic Service in 2018.
- Contribution to Copernicus’s very high-resolution coverages of Europe, since 2014 (VHR_IMAGE_20xx).
- Rapid Action for Citizens with Earth Observation (RACE program): GEOSAT-2 (G2) monitored the impact of COVID-19 worldwide, supporting the European Commission (EC) through the provision of G2 products (archive and new acquisition).
