Delivering dependable decision-making when a quick response makes all the difference.
In an emergency situation, access to accurate information before, and as soon as possible after, a disaster is a matter of life and death.
Our 24/7 emergency imagery service gives you accurate, scientific-quality imagery in as little as 30 minutes. So, when you’re coordinating emergency response and combating the effects of a disaster under pressure, you can make better-informed decisions to help you save lives.
When it comes to coordinating local authorities and making sure everyone has access to the most up-to-date information, the accessible, user-friendly format of our imagery is essential.
It allows everyone to be as responsive and proactive as possible, through the whole disaster management cycle: from mitigation and preparedness to response and recovery.
We’ve worked together with Copernicus Emergency Management since 2010. To help them – and many other civil protection agencies – respond to events like floods and forest fires, we operate our satellites 24/7 and offer an emergency imagery service that gives you imagery in near real time.
Watching crops grow.
Accurate predictions and appropriate preparedness save lives.
Our imagery reveals insights which are key to helping you identify disaster-prone locations, develop hazard maps, and prepare for a variety of meteorological, geological, or man-made disasters.

Information at your fingertips.
Our satellites detect light in different bands, or wavelengths, including colours like red, green and blue, as well as non-visible light like near-infrared (NIR). By combining different bands we extract crucial information about ongoing disasters.

Detecting earthquake damage.
Colour imagery, which combines red, green and blue bands, gives a clear indication of earthquake damage.

Near-infrared imagery shows up fires and floods.
Near-infrared (NIR) imagery combined with the red band reveals fronts and hotspots in forest fires.
NIR imagery also clearly shows areas where vegetation has been destroyed following a fire, as well as making areas covered by floodwater much easier to detect.

Mapping the damage.
Analysing multi-spectral imagery, including colour imagery and near-infrared imagery, accurately reveals the extent of devastation after disasters. Damage evaluation maps based on this imagery are central to planning the rehabilitation and restoration of affected communities and habitats.

Insurance insights.
Using our imagery, insurance companies can get more insight into disaster exposure and identify risk-prone areas to ensure their premiums are appropriate. What’s more, by examining imagery of their policyholders’ assets both before and after disasters, insurers can tackle fraud and make informed decisions about when to make claims pay-outs following a disaster.
